Training Recall

Training Recall is best done using a Long Line or Tracking Line. The Reason for this is you don't want any tension on the Line and Dogs collar when training recall.  So when your dog as mastered Recall and goes off Lead they will come back to you when you call them.
The things you will need to train Recall is a Safe area, Long Line  these are normally in a 5 Meter or 10 Meter length, Food rewards , Balls , Poo Bags.
Training Recall can take Weeks to months Depending on you , your Dog and how much time you have to train.

Firstly go and find a Safe quiet area that you can use. allow your Dog to wonder and sniff keep the Long line slack with no tension. When your Dog nears the end of the Long Line call them back to you and give them a reward. then repeat. and keep repeating these steps. You must keep no tension on the Long Line SO DO NOT LET IT GO TIGHT.
Start walking your Dog on the Long Line keeping yourselves safe at all times and always use a Long Line away from roads.
Other things you can train on a Long Line is distance control getting your dog to Sit and Wait whilst you back up alway re-enforcing the wait. Then call your Dog to you.
Other types of Waits that you can Train on a Long Line is a Down Stay Or a Standing Wait. The Long line can also be used to Train the Emergency Stop when you call your Dog back to you you train them to stop on command this can be useful if you want them to stay where they are (e.g. a car is moving  on a track you are walking long and you need you Dog to stay still)
Other leads like a Flexi Lead keeps a constant tension on the Dogs collar so they a pulling on the Lead all the time.
Using the Long line you have to work hard to keep no Tension on the the Dogs collar.
